California Food Journey β LA Eats Part 1 π½οΈ
Avra Estiatorio Located in Beverly Hills I was initially drawn in by the stunning display of fresh fish at the back β expectations were high. But in the end, my impression was: expensive and not very tasty π (Maybe my palate just isnβt refined enough for upscale Greek seafood!) π Bread Service ππππ Pita with hummus β actually tasty and unique! π¦ͺ Oysters ππ They had East Coast and West Coast oysters β I got three of each. Couldnβt tell the difference, plus some were gritty and a bit fishy π’ π¦ Lobster Pasta πππ Just okay β decent lobster pasta but not as good as what Iβve had in Boston. π Lamb Chops π The biggest letdown! Three pieces for around $60β70, and they were tough and bland. π₯ Salad πππ Nothing special β just a regular salad. π Fried Eggplant ππ Fancy tempura-style? Didnβt stand out. π Sea Bass ππ (if I remember correctly) You can pick your fish from the display and choose the cooking method. We went with their classic style. Bland β maybe itβs meant to highlight the natural flavor β and the meat was a bit dry. πΉ Cocktails ππππ Asked for recommendations β one lemon-based, one strawberry (forgot the names). These were actually good! Sweet, tangy, refreshing. Final bill for five people: over $600 $100+ per person β not planning to return. #BeverlyHillsDining #LAFood #StudentEats #FoodReview #StudyAbroadLife π₯
