Can't-miss fun places in Newcastle!
🚗 This weekend, we set off from Newcastle with friends, driving north along the northeast coast to a stunning little town many haven’t heard of—Berwick-upon-Tweed (Berwick)! Historically, this town changed hands between England and Scotland 13 times, and even today, it still retains that strong border vibe 🏴🏴. Fun fact: It’s a seaside town where the sea temperature runs cool. That day, warmer air clashed with the chilly water, creating a misty “sea fog” (or “evaporation fog”) 🌫️ that swirled around the old railway bridge. Every train from Newcastle to Edinburgh rumbles over this Victorian-era viaduct, the “Royal Border Bridge” 🚂—a sight to see! By train: Details for traveling from Newcastle to Berwick-upon-Tweed: • Departure: Newcastle Central Station • Arrival: Berwick-upon-Tweed Route: Newcastle → Morpeth → Alnmouth → Berwick-upon-Tweed (next stop: Edinburgh!) • Journey time: ~45-50 minutes ❗️❗️❗️ The (scenery en route) is stunning, especially along the coast. Sit on the right side by the window (when leaving Newcastle) for full views of the coastline and bridge—pure magic! #UKStudents #NewcastleUK #PhotographySpots #HighlandsScotland #WutheringHeightsVibes #HiddenPhotographyGems
