Canada's Seafood & Steak Feast: The Highlight of My Ottawa Trip 🥹❗️
Though the Ottawa Escapade this time was honestly a letdown, one thing that truly satisfied me was the seafood and steak feast at Whalesbone! 🦞🥩 [Ambiance] 4/5 The dark wood tones, dim lighting, and barn boards with deer heads on the wall give it a "wild west hunter at a bar after a long day" vibe. But the food is so refined and delicious that the contrast is unexpectedly cute! 🍴 [Food] 4.5/5 Seafood Platter (Hot) - $135 It was cold and rainy that day, and I noticed both the hot and cold seafood platters were priced the same. Hot seafood platters are rare, and this one blew me away! Every item was a standout—nothing felt like filler. Bacon-wrapped scallops were savory and rich! Lobster rolls were tender and refreshing. The Argentine red shrimp were huge and flavorful. Mussels had a wonderful wine aroma, and the Old Bay fish cakes with lime Louis sauce were creamy but not overwhelming. 🦐🔥 Caesar Salad + Anchovy - $21 + $5 The extra $5 for anchovies was honestly the only regret of the meal... Anchovies are always a gamble—if fresh, they elevate the dish; if not, they ruin it. Unfortunately, this time they were overly fishy. 😓 But the Caesar salad itself was great! Oysters - $45 We ordered a dozen—six East Coast and six West Coast. East Coast was sweet, West Coast was creamy, and both were fresh enough to make your taste buds dance! 🦪✨ [Service] 4.5/5 The servers were super friendly, chill, and knowledgeable. Service wasn’t too slow either. [Price] 4.5/5 Compared to Toronto, the value for money here is unbeatable 🥹! While I’m not rushing back to Ottawa anytime soon, I wish this restaurant would open in Toronto! #OttawaEats #OttawaSteak #CanadianFoodie #Escapade #SeafoodLover #TorontoLife #CanadaLife #FoodReview #OttawaFoodie
