Canberra: A Two-Day Food Guide 🍽️

🔥After procrastinating for two days, I finally put together this dining summary for Canberra. Honestly, there weren’t many dishes that blew me away—this is one of those times where desserts totally outshone the main courses. Alright, let’s get started. 📍 Mayfair Espresso Cafe A brunch spot that popped up a lot in my research, recommended by many people. It’s right next to the Murrays drop-off point, so I headed there first as soon as I arrived. To be honest, it was just so-so. There are quite a few places in Sydney that are better than this 🥹. It’s decent, but not a must-visit. The 🥐 wasn’t very crispy; it felt a bit softened by the heat and was chewy, though overall it was okay. The prawn tom yum pasta had that classic tom yum flavor. The matcha tiramisu latte was on the sweet side. Friends, don’t order the lemongrass & ginger tea—it’s extremely weak. 📍 Black Fire Braddon We made a reservation for dinner here on the same day. It was pretty crowded, and so was the restaurant next door. Someone should go try the place next door! The table beside us was eating some kind of meat dish that looked really tasty. The maltagliati pasta—wide noodles with lamb, topped with cheese—was quite unique and fragrant. It had something like vinaigrette added, giving it a slight tang, which made for an interesting vinegar flavor. The seafood paella was creamy, with mussels, shrimp, scallops, and squid, and had a hint of spiciness. The drinks and desserts were really good! The lychee cocktail had a strong but a lovely fruity aroma, making it very easy to enjoy. The post-meal dessert, caramel orange cheesecake, had a fresh orange flavor that paired perfectly with it!! 📍 Patissez I had tacos for brunch on the second day. One with beef and one with pork (the first two options under the taco section on the menu). They gave a huge amount of meat, but eating them was a bit messy. Since I’m not a big fan of onions and scallions, it made the tacos just slightly average. But! Their smoothie!! Please try it. It has a rich honey flavor, and the fruit blend is just right. It feels healthy too. 📍 OMI My last meal was Japanese food, which I love, located in Canberra Central. The salted egg yolk fries!! Please, please, please try them! The ramen and rice bowls were all good—suddenly I want to eat there again. The matcha shaved ice was also nice (I thought it wasn’t too sweet, but my friend found it a bit sweet). Add extra toppings if you like them.❤️❤️❤️ #Australia #Canberra #Food #CanberraFoodie #Brunch #StudyAbroad #FlexWeek #Travel #Eating #Guide
