I was recommended this place by a friend. Tried their matcha drink variations and flat white multiple times. The matcha is the best one I have tried in Canberra so far. However, the quality can be varied and inconsistent. The first time I tried the matcha here, wednesday after lunch, it was good. The second time, Monday afternoon, was really great. The best one I got. However, after that second time, I never get the best one like that one random Monday afternoon. I tried to crack the code, was it because close to closing time? Or different barista? No one knows (and I didn't ask). You can see from the photo that the matcha is different. The regular one is good, but I want the best one from that random Monday afternoon.
Very recently, the cup size got smaller too for iced matcha. Is it because they ran out of bigger cup, or is it just inflation?
Overall, good matcha but could be better if it's more consistent (preferably like the one with extra matcha sludge around...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been visiting this cafe regularly after recently trying it and have enjoyed my experience until today.
At around 11:30 am, while seated indoors near the register, a staff member accidentally knocked over a coffee tin, which spilled my coffee onto my favourite white cardigan. While I understand that accidents happen, I was disappointed by the lack of concern from the staff. The only response was a brief āsorry,ā and I had to request water myself to try and clean the stain. A more sincere apology or some assistance would have been appreciated.
If the cafe places tables near loose products, they should ensure these items are secured to prevent similar incidents. Unfortunately, this was a very unpleasant experience for me, and Iām unsure if Iāll be able to completely remove the stain. As much as I liked this place, I wonāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMayfair is on my way, so I have had many different coffees here (batch brew, espresso, flat white etc) but never eaten any food. My review thus focuses on their coffee. They source their coffee from ONA, Canberraās best specialty coffee roaster. They also do a better job with their coffee than most cafes that stock ONA by offering a rotating range of single origins alongside the more-standard blends. That said, I have noticed that the coffee quality varies a lot, with a particular drop in quality later in the day. I think this is because not all the staff are equally-trained as baristas. If quality, not price or convenience, is your priority, the nearby flagship ONA cafe Cupping Room does a better, more consistent job with their coffee. However Mayfair is less expensive, so that should definitely be taken into...
