Checking In at a Quirky DC Museum

🏰🎨Taking advantage of the Bank of America card’s free museum day on the first Saturday of every month, I checked out the Phillips Collection (usually $20 entry fee). But before I went there, I stumbled upon the nearby Larz Anderson House on XHS and decided to drop by and explore it as well. 🏰🎨Larz Anderson House, a free museum, is essentially a celebrity mansion. No reservation is needed, but visits must be guided by staff, and there seems to be a fixed schedule for tours. If you arrive early, you might need to wait a bit. 🏰🎨The entire tour lasts about an hour. At each room, the staff explains the stories and the purpose of the room. However, with a limited knowledge of American history, I must admit I only understood about 60% of it. I brought a kid along, and they understood even less, so we ended up leaving early. But the house itself is beautifully designed and perfect for taking photos. 🏰🎨The Phillips Collection is just a five-minute walk from this museum. It features artworks by famous figures, including a good number of modernist pieces. If you enjoy admiring paintings, it’s definitely worth a visit, especially if you catch the bank card event. The museum’s café has a small garden at the back, which is perfect for slowly sipping coffee and zoning out. #MyStudyVisitRecord #DCFreeMuseums #DMVWeekendActivities
