Checking In for Our Anniversary at DC’s Michelin-Starred Gravitas 🎉🍽
The past two years have been a whirlwind of work, and I’ve missed our wedding anniversary twice due to returning home for vacation. This year, I was determined to revive our tradition of marking the occasion at a Michelin-starred restaurant. There are quite a few new Michelin restaurants in the DC area, but not many are open on Sundays, so we settled on Gravitas as it fit our schedule. Gravitas offers different experiences with 3, 4, 6 courses, and a Chef Counter 15-course option. The Chef Counter was only available at 8 PM, so we opted for the 6-course meal instead. 🍽️✨ Located in the northeastern part of DC, Gravitas is a bit out of the way and the surrounding area is somewhat run-down. The street it’s on isn’t the greatest, and the walk from the car wasn’t the most pleasant. However, there was a police car nearby, and we even saw another one patrolling, which made us feel a bit safer. 🚔🏙️ The restaurant doesn’t have a sign, so if you’re facing Compass Coffee, it’s the little green house to the right at the bottom of the stairs. Inside, the industrial style is a nice change from the more refined Michelin restaurants, and I quite liked it. 🏠🌿 The six-course meal actually includes one appetizer, one bread course, two fixed dishes, three selectable dishes, a palate-cleansing sorbet, one dessert, and a final sweet treat. We tried the Scallop, Lobster Pasta, and duck for the selectable dishes. Overall, the flavors were excellent. The only downsides were that the scallop’s accompaniments were a bit too salty, and the duck had some tough sinews. Besides that, everything was delicious, and I’d definitely come back. 🦐🍝🦆 Also, this restaurant accepts inkind, and with the monthly $150 for$50 and 40% off recharge discount, it’s a real steal. If you’re in the DMV area, it’s definitely worth a try. 🤑🎁 #restaurantrecommendations #northamericallife #michelin #foodie
