Chicago's Michelin One-Star 🌟 Middle Eastern Delight!

Galit I finally got to try the highly anticipated Middle Eastern cuisine at Galit this time back in Chicago! One of the chefs has a James Beard Award. I had been wanting to try this place for years. Three years ago, I heard it was delicious and great value, with a pre-fixe menu for just $68🔪. But now, it's up to $105! So, we opted for à la carte and ordered a glass of wine🍷, which ended up being almost the same price as the pre-fixe menu. The menu is divided into four sections: 🥗 The hummus and salatim are both cold appetizers (two separate sections). We ordered the brisket hummus, which had a creamy texture with a mild garlic flavor. The brisket had a slightly crispy exterior and was incredibly well-seasoned, almost like a Chinese dish! The pita was fluffy, not as soft as typical Mediterranean pita, but with a richer and more satisfying texture. It was delicious!!!! Salatim (Hebrew for "small cold dishes") are Israeli-style tapas. My favorite was the one similar to pumpkin purée! But all of them were yummy😋. 🍗 Mezze Hot Appetizers We tried the kubbeh halab, which are fried balls with a slightly sticky, rice-based shell and a ground lamb filling. The dipping sauce was amazing—a sweet and spicy blend! 🥩🐟 The Main Event The walleye masgouf was absolutely incredible!!!! It's still on my mind days later. The sauce was slightly tangy, perfectly cutting through the richness of the tender, flaky fish with a crispy skin that wasn't overly charred. 🐑 Lamb kebab with fondant potato: This was another standout dish. The lamb was juicy and full of balanced, rich spices. The fondant potato had no starchy texture at all, almost like a turnip. The flatbread on top was different from pita, more like a scallion pancake from back home haha. Delicious, delicious, delicious! When can I go back to Chicago for a second visit?🥺 #ChicagoFoodie #ChicagoMichelin #HiddenGemRestaurant #AuthenticEatingExperience
