Autumn is a great season for hiking near Chicago, with cool weather and vibrant natural scenery that's truly refreshing. Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and embrace the arms of nature! πŸ‚ 🍁 Starved Rock State Park The closest and one of the most popular hiking spots to Chicago. It features steep canyons, waterfalls, and beautiful river views. 🌬️ In the fall, the forests turn into a sea of golden yellow, making it perfect for πŸ“· photography and getting close to nature. The entire park has 1️⃣3️⃣ miles of hiking trails, suitable for hikers of varying difficulties. πŸ”­ Key Features: Waterfalls, canyons, and autumn forest scenery are especially stunning in the fall, with πŸ‚ colorful leaves and majestic rock formations. - The drive from the Loop is approximately 100mi, about one hour and forty minutes. We did a loop from the Visitor Center to Bluff Trail to Sandstone Point Overlook to River Trail, taking about two hours with stops. We visited French and Wildcat canyons and saw a small waterfall, though the water flow wasn't substantial.
