Chicago | Au Cheval's Napoleon Cake is a Tower of Delight 🍰

Finally, I made it to the legendary burger haven! After waiting in the cold wind for 45 minutes, the anticipation was ignited by the rich aroma of sizzling meat as soon as I stepped inside. Overall, it was definitely worth the trip! 🍔 Single Cheeseburger The "single" actually comes with a double meat patty, which is super hearty—more than enough to share between two people. With the addition of a fried egg, it becomes a bit unwieldy, but that first bite, though messy, is absolutely worth it. The flavor is undeniable! 😋 Thick Cut Peppered Bacon The thick-cut bacon is a staple at traditional American burger joints. The crispy exterior and the sweetness from the maple syrup perfectly balance the richness. I'm so glad I ordered a whole serving of bacon. It's satisfying on its own or paired with the burger. 🍖 Foie & Scramble Eggs I have to say, Chicago really outdoes New York when it comes to generous portions of foie gras. Large chunks of foie gras with creamy scrambled eggs, all placed on butter-toasted bread—each bite makes you forgive the calorie count. 🥧 ✨ Mille Feuille This Napoleon cake is the star of the show! It's as tall as a small mountain, with crispy layers of puff pastry that melt into crumbs in your mouth. The cream is not overly sweet and has a rich aroma, while the accompanying chocolate sauce is thick and adds a whole new dimension of flavor when drizzled on top. 🌟 Bodem Half Acre A fruity beer recommended by the staff, it has a subtle aroma of tropical fruits. However, once you take a sip, it still retains the classic wheat beer flavor. 🍻 Maplewood Fat Pug A slightly bitter stout, but the smooth texture makes it easy to drink. 🍺 While the beer selection isn't as layered as Moody Tongue's, it wins in terms of affordability. The bacon and dessert were truly impressive, and I'd definitely come back for more. 🥩 #HiddenGems #LuxuryBreadVibe #ChicagoFood #ChicagoLife #ChicagoEats #GlobalFoodieSquad #FoieGras #FoodDiary #PrivateHiddenRestaurant
