🌴 Chicago Dining | The Most Miami-Vibe Restaurant in Town? 🍹

📍 Matilda Restaurant 535 N Wells St (Don't mix it up with the one on N Sheffield Ave!) Just opened a week ago, Matilda brings Mexican-Peruvian fusion with a speakeasy bar in the basement. The decor is Insta-heaven: elegant white arched walls, tropical florals 🌺, and a stunning wave-patterned wall carved by a Colombian artist. With an all-Latino staff, the vibe is so Miami—you’ll forget you’re in Chicago! 🍽️ What We Ordered: 🍹 Mocktails (Both $18, Alcohol-Free): Be Mine - Tangerine 🍊: A Pisco sour-inspired mix with passionfruit, lime, and foamy egg whites—perfect for sour lovers! Sombra 🫐: Too sweet without alcohol (mezcal/fernet removed), but refreshing on a hot day. 🥗 Scallop & Lychee Aguachile 🍣: Summer on a plate! Buttery scallops with lychee, spicy ponzu, and pear. Wish the pear was crunchier for texture contrast, and chilled more for extra refreshment. 🥗 Matilda’s Paella 🥘: Zesty lemon + Chinese BBQ-esque flavors! Rice was soft (no socarrat). Had to send back the undercooked mahi-mahi 🐟, but the remake was flawless. Note: The ceviche in scallop shells was oddly warm—hard to balance with hot rice. ✨ Overall Experience: New-restaurant quirks: Slow service (2hrs for 2 dishes), minor mix-ups (mocktail confusion). But! Staff was super apologetic—comped a drink for the fish mishap. 💖 Verdict: Pricey mocktails, gorgeous decor, unique flavors. Worth it for a Miami escape! #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFoodie #LatinFusion #NewInChicago #InstaWorthy #MiamiVibes
