Chicago Dining Spotlight | Amaru ๐ต๐ช๐ฅ
Cuisine: Latin American Price Range: $50-$100 Chicago Restaurant Week is ending soon! Today I'm recommending Amaru in Wicker Park, offering $60 (4-course) and $45 (3-course) prix-fixe menus . We went with the $45 option (appetizer, main, dessert ร la carte). We also ordered two standout dishes ร la carte: ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ Piononos โ Sweet plantains wrapped around Spanish chorizo, with crispy bacon on the outside. Absolute perfection! ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ Coconut Fried Rice โ Malaysian-inspired , fragrant coconut flavor with wok hei. My favorite dish! 1st Course (Pick 1): ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ Ceviche del Dia โ Classic Latin ceviche with seasonal fish. Fresh, bright, flawless! ๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐ Ecuadorian Llapingacho โ Sweet potato cake, almost dessert-like. Rich but balanced. ๐ฅ ๐๐๐๐ Ensalada Invierno โ Beautiful plating but basic flavors . 2nd Course (Pick 1): ๐ ๐๐๐๐ Cuban Oxtail โ Fall-off-the-bone tender , though sauce was salty. Goat cheese dumplings = bold & delicious! ๐ ๐๐๐๐ Boliche โ Puerto Rican-style pork loin. Well-seasoned but slightly dry. ๐ฐ ๐๐๐ Jollof Lentil Cake โ Too crumbly , and the amaranth curry lacked depth. 3rd Course (Pick 1): ๐ฝ ๐๐๐๐๐ Pastel de Elote โ Sweet corn cake (like Chinese huangmi gao). Not too heavy, just right! ๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐ Crema Catalana โ Crรจme brรปlรฉe vibes but overly sweet. ๐ธ Note: 20% auto-gratuity included (skip the extra tip prompt!). ๐ธ Vibes: Cozy, artsy, great for dates! #ChicagoEats #ChicagoFood #RestaurantWeek #GlobalBites #HiddenGems #FoodieAdventure
