Chicago Food | French Brunch at Obélix 😍
Obélix is truly amazing! My good friend booked a table a week in advance for their brunch. Obélix has been on my to-try list for so long, and this visit was truly impressive! Every dish we ordered was a hit, and the restaurant’s ambiance was fantastic! Plus, they change their menu every week. I really wanted to try the persimmon croissant, but it wasn’t available this time. 1️⃣ Foie Gras Clafoutis 👍 Highly recommended! The combination of sweet and savory is perfect. Inside is a rich blueberry sauce paired with foie gras. When you take a bite, the idea of a “sweet-savory perpetual motion machine” comes to mind. The outer layer is slightly crispy, while the inside is tender. The blueberry sauce has a molten texture, which is delicious. The foie gras is a bit salty, so it’s best to eat it together with the blueberry sauce, not separately. 2️⃣ Lobster Crêpe 🦞 We debated between this and the steak sandwich 🍔 for a while, but we finally chose the lobster crêpe! We figured we could imagine what the steak would taste like, but the savory crêpe was a first for both of us! The sauce is incredibly flavorful and rich, wrapped around a whole piece of lobster meat. It also has mushrooms, which I love, and there are fish roe on top, adding a rich, varied texture. 3️⃣ Duck Salad 🥗 The crispy duck is quite distinctive, though it’s a bit salty, so it’s best to eat it with the vegetables. The salad has a wide variety of greens and a special sauce. A unique feature is the soft-boiled duck egg on top. When you break the yolk, it looks beautiful and adds a rich flavor to the salad. #obelix #ChicagoFood #ChicagoBrunch #BrunchInChicago
