Chicago Restaurant Review | Michelin 🍻 Moody Tongue

I booked Moody Tongue for a pre-New Year’s celebration with 🐶. I had heard rave reviews about their tasting menu from friends and had it on my wishlist for a while. Finally, I got the chance to visit! However, I didn’t go for the tasting menu—it seemed a bit inflexible—so I booked a table at The Bar. 🥂 **BURRATA & BEET** This dish had burrata cheese, beets, oranges, persimmons, kale, cashew cream, and a tangy-sweet vinaigrette. It was fruity and delicious with a creative combination of flavors. If you’re not a cheese fan, you might want to skip this one. 🥲 **SPANISH OCTOPUS** The octopus was tender and delicious! This was probably my favorite dish, especially because of the sweet and chewy sweet potato croquettes underneath. Yum! 😋 **SEARED HUDSON VALLEY FOIE GRAS** The foie gras was fragrant and rich, paired with milk bread, miso butter, a peach sauce, and crispy crumble. The combination of flavors, especially the refreshing peach sauce, kept it from being too greasy. 🍗 **CRESCENT DUCK BREAST** This dish felt a bit like smoked duck breast, with mushrooms and some unidentified veggies. It was good but not particularly mind-blowing. 🦆 **GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE** According to Google Maps, this cake is a popular choice. The first few bites were rich and delicious, but I found it a bit too sweet overall. Friends who don’t like overly sweet desserts should approach with caution. 🍰 Lastly, since Moody Tongue is a restaurant focused on culinary brewing, I highly recommend trying their beers! 🍻 They usually offer two sizes, and we went for the 4oz ones so we could sample more. We tried: - **TOASTED RICE LAGER** (our unanimous favorite) - **CERISE** (a bit like rosé) - **DARK ENGLISH PUB ALE** (🐶 wanted something stronger but didn’t love it) - **FARMERS MARKET SERIES** (changes seasonally; we got a light one that we really enjoyed) Overall, if you’re unsure what to try, just ask the bartender for recommendations based on your usual beer preferences. 🍻 💰 The cost was around $100 per person after tax and tip. The food was unique and innovative, and the beers were great—I’ll definitely be back! 🌹🤩 #ChicagoFood #ChicagoEats #ChicagoLife
