Classic Puerto Rican Cuisine

🧀San Juan has its own rhythm and style—beautiful beaches, a vibrant culture, and some seriously flavorful food. During our autumn trip, we visited Old San Juan and stopped by a classic spot: El Jibarito. 🍝The place itself is colorful, lively, and set up almost cafeteria-style, with long tables in the middle and smaller two-tops around the edges. It’s casual and welcoming, and you can tell it’s built for groups, families, and good times. 🥨Food-wise, this is the heart of Puerto Rican comfort. We started with chicken-filled turnovers—hot, crispy, and delicious. For the main course, I went with fried chicken and mofongo , while my friend chose tostones with ribs (fried plantains). 🥬The mofongo and tostones were easily the highlights—packed with flavor and texture. The fried chicken was okay, though it might have been a bit too fried for my taste. 🥩But if you’re looking for authentic Puerto Rican staples in Old San Juan, El Jibarito deserves a spot on your list. #SanJuan #PuertoRicanCuisine #ElJibarito #AutumnTravel
