📍 Cozy Japanese Izakaya in Harvard Square 🍜

Today, I was looking for a meal near Harvard and happened to pass by Bosso Ramen Tavern next to Harvard Yard. 🔍 It seemed quite new, so I decided to give it a try~ It was a solo meal today, keeping it simple. At five o’clock, there was no need to wait for a table, so I chose a table inside, close to the bar and other tables. 📖 Menu They have a variety of drinks, sake, sake cocktails~ The main dishes are divided into appetizers, sushi, and ramen. There are also vegan options. 🍽️ Ambiance There are many seats, and the lighting in the small corners is very dim (you can feel it from the pixelation in the photos). The restaurant is quite new and spacious. 💁 Service The food arrives super fast, like within a few minutes, probably to cater to the students and workers in the area. The overall service was quite good. A little “twist” they have is that the staff communicate a lot, and everyone can hear it. For example: Upon seating, “We have two guests” The whole store shouts, “Welcome to Bosso” When ordering, “New order,” the whole store responds, “Hai~” When leaving, “Our guest is leaving” The whole store shouts, “Thank you” 🍴 Dishes 🍜 I ordered the umami ramen, thinking to try the classic style. It comes with half a soft-boiled egg, green onions, and wood ear mushrooms. The broth is rich, not too salty, and comes with two slices of chashu. The chashu is lean and has a slight oil taste, so it might not be made fresh in the store. If you’re picky, you might want to avoid it. The thin noodles are a bit firm but not raw and won’t bloat when eaten slowly with the soup. The portion isn’t large, so you can add more noodles if needed. 🍣 Yuzu Scallop Bosso Sushi: The sushi here = hand roll, very large and generous. The yuzu peel adds an interesting twist, but the flavor is quite light, and even with salmon roe, it’s not salty. Considering the ingredients and portion, it’s quite a good deal. 🍶 Bosso Sora, a mix of sake, red ruby grapefruit, and curacao (I looked it up and it’s a liqueur made from the peel of the Curacao orange, an ingredient from the Caribbean island of Curacao). A small cup on the rocks, it’s quite refreshing. If you like sake, coming with a few friends and ordering some small dishes would be enjoyable. 💰 Average cost: $30-50🔪 Given that Japanese cuisine is somewhat of a desert in Boston, it’s okay for casual dining if you’re passing by, but not worth making a special trip for. #JapaneseIzakaya #JapaneseCuisine #JapaneseFood #RestaurantRecommendations #GlobalEatingSquad #HarvardUniversity #BostonLife #BostonFood #ExplorationCheckIn #RestaurantExploration
