Daily Post | | Jamaica Pond 🌫️🌲
This afternoon, I first stopped by Leverett Pond before taking a serene 2.4 km walk around Jamaica Pond. What began in thick fog slowly transformed into clear views of the opposite shore—a peaceful, almost magical transition. Did you know? The name "Jamaica" actually comes from a Native American word meaning "abundance of beavers" 🦫! (No, it’s not related to the Caribbean island 😄). So you could call it "Beaver Haven Pond"! Sadly, I didn’t spot any beavers today—maybe next time. Jamaica Pond is one of Boston’s hidden gems 💎: Part of the Emerald Necklace park system designed by Frederick Law Olmsted 🌿 A popular spot for walking, running, fishing 🎣, and even ice skating in winter ⛸️ Surrounded by lush trees and often visited by ducks, swans, and yes—sometimes beavers! Though small, the pond holds big charm. The misty atmosphere made everything feel quiet and mysterious—like stepping into a storybook. If you visit: Bring a warm drink ☕ and enjoy the tranquility Look for historic markers and stone bridges 🏞️ Perfect for a short escape from city life 🏙️ #JamaicaPond #LeverettPond #BostonParks #EmeraldNecklace #NatureWalk #History #Beavers #ExploreBoston #DailyWalk 🍃📸
