Dallas | Super Impressive New Japanese Yakitori in Carrollton

📍 Koi Sushi and Izakaya We ordered the most classic yakitori items: momo (chicken thigh), kawa (chicken skin), tsukune (ground chicken), and negima (chicken thigh with green onions). I don't think we specified whether we wanted them sauce-glazed or salt-grilled, but I guess the default was sauce-glazed. The charcoal smoke flavor was very pronounced, and the grilling was just perfect👌. The chicken skin was slightly crispy, which I loved! There was no fishy taste at all, and I think the sauce probably helped a lot. The katsu don (coffee pork cutlet bowl) was also good. Although I felt the pork cutlet was a bit thin and couldn't be very juicy, the curry and the cutlet were both flavorful. It was a comforting dish, nothing extraordinary but very satisfying. 🌟For sushi and sashimi, we had uni (sea urchin), unagi (eel), ama ebi (sweet shrimp), toro (fatty salmon, both raw and seared versions—note that the seared version requires a special request), hotate (scallop), and tamago (egg omelette). Everything was delicious! If I had to rank them, I would highly recommend the seared toro. The torched version had a stronger aroma of fat compared to the raw version, and it was a big hit! 🛖The sea urchin and scallops were also very fresh and sweet, and the tamago had a well-balanced seasoning. The sweet shrimp was a bit less impressive; the shrimp meat was sweet, but it wasn't very fresh. It looked a bit gray and was starting to get soft, lacking the fresh and chewy texture. However, the shrimp head tempura (they offer a two-way dish) was perfect. The batter was crispy and light, and the seasoning and texture were just right. So I guess their tempura must be very good as well. By the way, the staff member was Korean, and the service was excellent. The price was also quite reasonable. We spent about $80 per person and were very satisfied! In the afternoon, we went to PETIT FOUR for some desserts. After the Japanese meal, we went to Texan Wangbal and ordered a plate of jokbal (pork trotters) from the Korean mom (it was also amazing😋, from the pork trotters to the lettuce wraps and kimchi side dishes, everything was perfect, and it was highly recommended by the Koreans in Dallas). It was a perfect day of delicious food and drinks! #SauceIsTheBest #Dallas #DallasFood #PorkTrottersAreGreat #BabyFood
