David Lynch’s Grave: “Night Blooming Jasmine” 🌙✨

On Valentine’s Day 2025, I visited Forever Cemetery at the foot of the Hollywood Hills for the first time. The sky was blue, the grass green, and a gentle breeze blew as peacocks and squirrels roamed freely. 🦚🌿 Rumor had it that David Lynch was buried here, but I couldn’t find his grave that day. I paused at Judy Garland’s memorial, reading heartfelt messages from fans—one note said, “You would have loved this version of Wicked.” 🎭💖 I passed the resting places of early Hollywood pioneers like Cecil B. DeMille, buried alongside his family. Most of the cemetery is filled with everyday people—their headstones, glass niches with photos, and personal mementos telling quiet stories. One standout: eight bronze dachshunds guarding a grave. I later learned it belongs to film critic Mike Szymanski, who designed his plot as a gathering spot for friends—even hosting birthday parties here! 🥳🐕 On April 29, I returned and finally found David Lynch’s resting place. His modest headstone was surrounded by flowers from devoted fans. 🌼📿 The inscription reads: “Night Blooming Jasmine”—a reference to his 2016 interview with AnOther Magazine, where he shared his poetic vision of LA nights: “When you fly over LA at night, the city stretches for miles with sparkling lights—so beautiful. It’s a fleeting image. But in it, some places evoke memories. On a summer night, or maybe spring, you can drive to certain spots. If you catch the scent of night-blooming jasmine, you can almost see Clark Gable or Gloria Swanson. The golden age of Hollywood still lingers in certain moods, in this city’s DNA.” 🌃🎞️ 📍 Hollywood Forever Cemetery 6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90038 🌐 Website: hollywoodforever.com 🕘 Hours: Mon–Fri 8:30 AM–5 PM, Weekends 8:30 AM–4:30 PM 🅿️ Parking: Free along interior roads David Lynch’s Grave: Section 7 (Griffith Lawn), Lot 129A, Grave 4 Have you visited Hollywood Forever Cemetery or another historic resting place?
