If your a tourist n wish to have a walking tour, none is available at this time. I may be able to help with this come the spring this year.. But till then ... Put on some comforting footwear, stop by the gift shop, buy a map n your ready to explore this fascinating park. Lots of Celebrities in entertainment & many of the founders of L.A. Take your time W your phone go to the website n search the name on the marker to learn more about the person/s Interned there.. Really educational n reveling about those of interest to you... If not enough to satisfy your curiosity about them.. Google them to learn more.. Have my favorites n visit them regularly.. For the paranormal types? Your in for a treat... Many residents still around for one reason or another ( famous n not ). Evp's n orbs are normal occurances.. But if conducting this activity, PLEASE 🙏 be respectful of both the living n the dead... Read moreProbably one of the most genuinely unsettling cemeteries I have been to in my life. This place has a very peaceful but also very eerie air about it. It's right in the middle of Hollywood behind Paramount and yet it really seems from the moment you step foot in here that time really does stop.
I went into this place not knowing much about the history so I wouldn't unconsciously create an experience, so I can genuinely say that it did spook me - you WILL see/hear things and you WILL pick up on this weird vibe that encapsulates the grounds and it's really hard to brush it off as "oh, you're just in a graveyard". Walking through the various mausoleums is quite the experience as well as they're cold, extremely quiet (everyone is outside walking around in the sun), and just strange. I cannot really explain it and I think for some people this might go over their heads but there's just a general vibe in them that's like walking through a dream.
There are a lot of Russians and Armenians buried here as well which no one ever mentions despite there being a significant population in LA.
I took one star off because getting into the cemetery can be a pain in the butt due to the heavy traffic/narrow streets/bad GPS directions.
