Hollywood Forever Cemetery is a unique and historically significant destination that offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles. Nestled in the heart of Hollywood, this cemetery is the final resting place for many of the entertainment industry's most iconic figures, making it a fascinating spot for fans and history enthusiasts alike.

As you enter the cemetery, you’re greeted by beautifully landscaped grounds, picturesque gardens, and serene water features. The atmosphere is peaceful, providing a reflective space to honor the legacies of those who contributed to the world of film and television. The well-maintained pathways invite you to explore the resting places of numerous stars, each with their own story to tell.

Among the notable graves is that of Judy Garland, the beloved actress and singer best known for her role as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz." Her grave is a poignant reminder of her incredible talent and the impact she had on generations of fans. Nearby, you’ll find the grave of Estelle Getty, cherished for her role as Sophia Petrillo on "The Golden Girls." The cemetery serves as a tribute to her comedic genius and the joy she brought to audiences.

Mickey Rooney, another Hollywood legend, is also laid to rest here. Known for his prolific career in film and television, Rooney's contributions to the entertainment industry span decades, and visiting his grave is a touching experience for fans of classic cinema. Other notable figures interred at Hollywood Forever include screenwriter and director Cecil B. DeMille, actor Douglas Fairbanks, and silent film star Valentino, whose ornate grave draws visitors intrigued by his legacy.

The cemetery is not only a resting place but also a cultural landmark that hosts various events throughout the year, including film screenings and music festivals. These events allow visitors to connect with the rich history of Hollywood and celebrate the lives of those buried here in a vibrant and engaging way.

While the cemetery is a beautiful tribute to the stars of yesteryear, it’s important to approach it with the reverence it deserves. The atmosphere encourages quiet reflection, making it an ideal place to pay respects and learn about the lives and careers of legendary figures.

In summary, Hollywood Forever Cemetery is a captivating destination that offers a glimpse into the history of the entertainment industry. With the graves of iconic stars like Judy Garland, Estelle Getty, Mickey Rooney, and many others, it serves as a poignant reminder of the talent that has shaped Hollywood. The peaceful grounds and engaging events make it a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in the stories behind the stars. Been coming here since 2004.. Big improvements since then n better maintained since new owners have taken over. If your a tourist n wish to have a walking tour, none is available at this time. I may be able to help with this come the spring this year.. But till then ... Put on some comforting footwear, stop by the gift shop, buy a map n your ready to explore this fascinating park. Lots of Celebrities in entertainment & many of the founders of L.A. Take your time W your phone go to the website n search the name on the marker to learn more about the person/s Interned there.. Really educational n reveling about those of interest to you... If not enough to satisfy your curiosity about them.. Google them to learn more.. Have my favorites n visit them regularly.. For the paranormal types? Your in for a treat... Many residents still around for one reason or another ( famous n not ). Evp's n orbs are normal occurances.. But if conducting this activity, PLEASE 🙏 be respectful of both the living n the dead... Drop by if your a tourist n get closer to your favorite stars then you probably ever would in life... If your a local.... Come on by to enjoy a afternoon picnic w family n friends or an early morning walk for miles Peaceful n quiet... Great place to think, ask advice of the residents or just hide from the world to rebalance yourself.. I do martial arts ( mostly like Ti chi) there regularly ... Great energy to assist .. Love this place... Read the message from one of the photos I post.. If only to visit this individual?.. After you read the message... You'd know why I would still go by at least once a month to say thank you for her pure 💛 Find her n say hi... Don't be shocked 🙄 if she answers!! Lol...

Look forward to taking you on a fascinating walking tour in the near future...

To the owners... In revitalizing the park for business reasons n at the same time, having a place of remembering your loved ones ( famous or not ) in dignity. Great Job...

Probably one of the most genuinely unsettling cemeteries I have been to in my life. This place has a very peaceful but also very eerie air about it. It's right in the middle of Hollywood behind Paramount and yet it really seems from the moment you step foot in here that time really does stop.

I went into this place not knowing much about the history so I wouldn't unconsciously create an experience, so I can genuinely say that it did spook me - you WILL see/hear things and you WILL pick up on this weird vibe that encapsulates the grounds and it's really hard to brush it off as "oh, you're just in a graveyard". Walking through the various mausoleums is quite the experience as well as they're cold, extremely quiet (everyone is outside walking around in the sun), and just strange. I cannot really explain it and I think for some people this might go over their heads but there's just a general vibe in them that's like walking through a dream.

There are a lot of Russians and Armenians buried here as well which no one ever mentions despite there being a significant population in LA.

I took one star off because getting into the cemetery can be a pain in the butt due to the heavy traffic/narrow streets/bad GPS directions. Also on the weekends there are a bunch of goobers from out of state and mall-goths with their phones out taking pictures, standing on graves (why...), and being loud so it kind of ruins the mood. I plan on going back during the week when it is a...
