Day Trip from Calgary | Drumheller’s Geological Wonders 🦖
If you’ve had your fill of fun in Calgary, why not take a little day trip to Dinosaur Valley! It’s actually a small town nestled in a mountain hollow, but its unique badland is unlike anything you’ll see elsewhere—isn’t that a kind of barren beauty? Plus, along the way, we passed vast stretches of golden wheat fields. Who can resist the charm of wheat waves dancing in the wind 🌾 🦕 Royal Tyrrell Museum From the Triassic, Jurassic to Cretaceous periods, it turns out that a rich variety of dinosaurs once lived just south of Calgary. The museum is worth a visit to learn about historical evolution and see dinosaur fossils 🦴! It’s perfect for kids—they’ll have a blast. 🦕 Midland Provincial Park Right outside the museum, there’s a long staircase; climb it and you’ll be greeted by unique landforms—layers upon layers of sediment piled up over years, and the most amazing thing? The layers are miraculously straight, looking like they were drawn with a ruler from a distance 📏. 🦕 Hoodoos Trail One of the must-visit spots! Here you’ll find lots of big “mushroom rock” hoodoos 🍄🟫. It’s actually an uphill trail, surrounded by the rock pillars—you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of them. It’s not tall but a bit challenging—I gave up at 2/3, but it’s so good for photos 📸! A must for anyone who loves taking great shots, highly recommended. 🦕 Horseshoe Canyon This town’s classic geological landmark, named because it looks like a horseshoe when viewed from above—though I couldn’t quite see it 😂. You can go down into the canyon and walk around, but it was way too sunny when I was there, so I skipped it. Definitely go when it’s cooler to experience it—it’s right on the way back, so you can stop by easily. #CanadaTravel #Drumheller #DinosaurValley #Badlands #Canyon #Hoodoos #CalgaryTravel #CalgaryLife #RoyalTyrrellMuseum
