DC|A Truly Surprising Meal 🌟 Jônt
📍 1904 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 (Upstairs from Bresca) 🌟 I visited DC this summer for an exhibition, and Jônt turned out to be an unforgettable surprise! Blending Japanese and French techniques with global flavors, this two-Michelin-star restaurant was absolutely outstanding—so good, I wouldn’t be surprised if it earns a third star someday! ✨ A few years ago, I dined at Bresca downstairs, and returning to the same building felt like coming full circle—what a nice connection! (I even got tempted to buy their beautiful glassware 😉) Overall, an incredibly satisfying experience. Some dishes that stood out: 🐟 Bluefin Tuna Tuna paired with uni, wasabi, and yuzu kosho—delicate and layered. The spicy, tangy yuzu kosho brightened the whole dish. Refreshing and elegant! 🐚 Medai Scallop with buttermilk and caviar. Creamy yet light, letting the sweetness of the fish shine through. 🦀 Koshiibuki Rice Crab and truffle combined perfectly with fluffy, fragrant rice—like an elevated, luxurious version of crab fried rice. 🥩 Snow Beef Hokkaido beef with delicate marbling, melting in your mouth. Served with crab and Béarnaise sauce—rich but not heavy. A personal favorite! 🕊️ Wolfe Ranch Quail The quail was unbelievable. Tender, juicy, with crispy skin. Paired with maitake mushrooms and a clear consommé that elevated the aroma. So good, I’d order it again in a heartbeat—the most memorable dish! 🍒 Cherry A visually stunning dessert balancing Black Forest flavors and sour cream—sweet, tart, and beautifully layered. 🍠 Annou Imo Roasted sweet potato mousse with vanilla ice cream—a rich yet gentle finish. 🍫 Petit Fours & Cognac The final bites paired perfectly with cognac—warm and thoughtful. 💯 All in all, this is a restaurant I’d definitely return to on my next DC trip!
