DC|La Chaumiere – French Cuisine Hidden in a "Thatched Cottage" 🍷
Every Friday, dinner with my friend Bingo has become our cherished routine. Since we need to wake up early the next day, we always choose La Chaumiere in Georgetown—it’s close to home and never disappoints! 💫 The restaurant’s exterior is so understated you might mistake it for an ordinary spot. But don’t be fooled—the Michelin Plate and awards from the French International Gastronomic Association displayed at the entrance quietly speak of its authenticity and excellence. 🏆 For the starter, we had foie gras—it had a slight gamey taste, a bit strong on the organ notes, but surprisingly, it paired really well with wine! 🍷 Do you enjoy foie gras? Love it or still getting used to it? For the main, I ordered the Steak Au Poivre cooked medium rare—the timing was perfect, and the freshly cracked pepper gave a wonderful spicy kick with every bite. There was even a bok choy on top, gently reminding me I hadn’t had my veggies for the day! 🥩🥬 How do you like your steak cooked? Bingo had the Fricassée Du Pêcheur—a seafood dish that was delightfully sweet and savory. 🐟 What’s your go-to French main course? And the soufflé for dessert? Absolutely the highlight of the meal! The sweetness unfolded layer by layer—fluffy, rich, and not overly heavy. A perfect ending! 🍮 Are you team sweet or savory when it comes to French desserts?
