DC Eats|Persian Perfection from Atlanta – Rumi's Kitchen 🇮🇷✨

DC's immigrant scene hits different—you can travel the world without leaving the city. Case in point: Rumi's Kitchen. 🕌 📍 640 L St NW, Washington, DC 20001 Named after the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi, this spot actually started in Atlanta and made its way to DC. And the locals? They've embraced it hard—Google Maps does NOT lie. 📍🔥 Persian food gets lumped with Turkish/Middle Eastern/Central Asian a lot, but it's its own thing. Think: herbs, acidity, layered balance. If you trace the food lineage—Iranian plateau, Silk Road,, Xinjiang—you'll find echoes everywhere. Even the word "Baghali" (fava beans) travels across languages. 🌾 The Order: 🥩 Koobideh Kabob – Ground beef + onion, molded onto skewers, charcoal-grilled. Simple? Sure. But two generous logs of meat + a whole roasted tomato + saffron rice? That's a PLATE. 🤯 🍚 Rice Game: Adas – Lentils + raisins. Sweet, warm, in a bite. Baghali – Fava beans + dill. Herbaceous, vibes. The Move: Press that roasted tomato into the saffron rice. Stack a piece of koobideh on top. Fork it all together. Clean beef fat, charcoal char, saffron warmth—it hits this...Like in your mouth. 🤤 Portions are SERIOUS. Had to box up half my meat—and saw the next table doing the same. 😂 If you travel through food, if you wanna taste a city through its communities—walk into Rumi's. Eat meat and rice like it's 800 years ago on the Silk Road. 🐫 #WashingtonDC #DCFood #RumisKitchen #PersianFood #SilkRoadEats #KoobidehKabob #DCRestaurants #DiningInDC #FoodTravel #CulturalEats
