DC Food Review | Oyamel – A Mexican Restaurant Full of Surprises! 🌮✨

📍 Oyamel Cocina Mexicana, Washington D.C. A Mexican spot that’s full of delightful surprises! Priced around $40–50 per person. Some dishes might not look super photogenic, but they’re seriously tasty! Not many have written about this place online, so here’s my recommendation! 🍽 Coctel Costeno: A zesty shrimp salad! Refreshing and appetizing, with diced tomatoes and onions—definitely order this! 🍽 Tamel Uchepo: Feels like a savory corn cheese dish—pan-fried, lightly salted, cheesy but not heavy. A must-try! 🍽 Camarones al mojo de ajo negro: Tastes like stir-fried peppers with meat, but made with shrimp 🍤—maybe a hint of fermented bean sauce? Really flavorful! 🍽 Pulpo negra: Perfect octopus! Served with sweet mashed potatoes, salsa, and marinated octopus—absolutely loved this one! 🍽 Plato de Suadero: Grilled beef with avocado, greens, and tortilla—just okay. Portion’s a bit large, and the tortilla was a bit dry. 🍽 Beef taco & fish taco: The beef taco uses shredded beef like Chipotle’s, and the fish taco has fried fish fillet. Both decent but not mind-blowing. ⭐️ As a Chipotle fan, I’ve always had a soft spot for Mexican food. This is one of the higher-rated Mexican restaurants in the area—great service, and the server’s recommendations were spot-on! The place can get crowded and noisy, and the ambiance is casual, but the food makes up for it! Have you been to Oyamel? What’s your favorite Mexican dish in DC?
