DC Hidden Gem Museum · Anderson House

Larz Anderson House Built in 1905, this historic building served as the winter residence of American diplomat Larz Anderson and his wife, Isabel. From 1905 to 1937, they hosted a variety of diplomatic receptions, formal dinners, and concerts, welcoming distinguished guests such as former U.S. Presidents William Howard Taft and Calvin Coolidge, as well as former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill! 🎩 ✨ The rooms are filled with an impressive collection of artworks that the Andersons acquired during Larz's postings in England, Belgium, Japan, and beyond. 🌍🖼️ After Larz's passing, his widow oversaw the donation of the house and most of its original furnishings to the Society of the Cincinnati. Founded by George Washington in 1783, the Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the American Revolution. 🇺🇸📜 📍 2118 Massachusetts Ave NW, Washington, DC 20008 Admission is FREE! 🆓✨ Remember to ring the doorbell for entry.
