DC Michelin | Affordable One-Star Dining – The Unsung Duck King 🦆

💰 88 3-course / 118 4-course / $158 Chef's Tasting (approx. 6 courses) 📍 1906 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009 Bresca is the sister restaurant to Jônt (located right upstairs and downstairs!), and the ambiance is lovely with a wide variety of menu options. Before 6 PM, you can choose a 2-course menu; after 6 PM, there are 3-course, 4-course, and full tasting (around 6 courses) options. Due to time constraints, I went with the 3-course menu—mainly to thoroughly taste their signature dish: duck! 🦆 Overall, it was a great experience! The duck is definitely worth trying! ✨ Amuse-bouche: Ham-wrapped breadsticks + Jerusalem artichoke cream soup—super flavorful and appetizing! ✨ First Course: Agnolotti (Italian-style ravioli) topped with spiced foam. The filling is foie gras—rich and savory. The pasta was a bit firm, but the sweet corn in the sauce balanced the richness beautifully. Complex and satisfying! ✨ Second Course: The highly anticipated duck! A generous piece of duck breast with crispy, spiced skin, served with a sauce made from duck bone broth and minced duck heart. Accompanied by a refreshing pear purée—probably the best duck I’ve had in the DMV area! ✨ Extra: A savory brioche was provided to dip in the duck sauce—so aromatic! ✨ Dessert: Raspberry Semifreddo (a semi-frozen Italian dessert) drizzled with brown sugar butter, topped with a lemon-flavored crisp and a touch of olive oil. Sweet, tangy, and uniquely delicious! ✨ Final treat: An apple macaron—not overly sweet, with a fragrant apple filling. A nice finish! The full tasting menu essentially includes all the dishes from the 3-course and 4-course menus, making it great value. The elegant atmosphere is perfect for a date—highly recommend giving it a try!
