DC Museum 🏛️: The Exotic Americas Art Museum
Before I moved, this little-known museum was just a five-minute walk from my place. Now that I’ve moved out of DC, I finally remembered to go back and visit... 🤦🏻♀️ This museum is small and its entrance is quite unassuming, but it’s actually the oldest collection of Latin American and Caribbean art in the United States. The most exotic part is the blue corridor on the first floor of the exhibition area. The combination of deep blue and brown, along with the tiles featuring American art elements, is just stunning! Today, there were very few people, which made it perfect for someone like me who’s a bit socially anxious and loves taking selfies! 📸 Don’t forget to check out the courtyard outside the museum. You can see the entire museum from there. I walked around to the back via a small path on the side of the museum. At first, I thought I’d stumbled into a forbidden area because there was no one around and the snow on the ground was untouched... There’s a decent-sized pool in the courtyard—I wonder if it’s filled with water in the summer. 🏛️ Museum Info 📍 Art Museum of the Americas 🕘 Hours: Closed on Mondays; Tuesday to Sunday 9:30am-1pm, 1:30pm-5pm 🎫 Free, but there’s a donation box at the entrance. If you’d like to donate, bring some spare change! #WashingtonDC #RecommendedUSMuseums
