DC National Museum of Natural History Highly Recommended👍 A Must-Visi
The DC metro is super convenient; just get off at the Union Station stop and walk about ten minutes to the entrance of the Natural History Museum! On our way, we saw many moms with their kids heading to the museum. This place is truly a fantastic venue for all ages, educational and entertaining🤔 Admission to the museum is free, and we went without a reservation, no problem at all. The entrance is on the basement level, which doesn’t have exhibits but has a food court (closes at 3 pm) and a gift shop. Go up one level to see the museum’s mascot—a towering elephant specimen with its trunk raised🐘 The first floor mainly features biology-related collections; the Mammals🐒 and Ocean🌊 Halls left the deepest impression on me. 🦒 Entering the Mammals Hall is like stepping into a zoo with incredibly lifelike animal specimens, truly stunning. 🌊 The Ocean Hall has a blue ocean theme🌊 that feels quite dreamy, with a massive whale🐳 specimen displayed in the center of the exhibit. The second floor of the museum primarily showcases natural resource collections, and there’s also a butterfly🦋 pavilion with a butterfly conservatory that you can enter for $7🔪. We got up close with the butterflies; one even landed on my clothes, leading to a lot of people taking photos of me (and the butterfly🦋)🤭 Just as we were about to leave, a staff member carefully removed the butterfly from my outfit, haha😆 In the Diamond Gallery on the second floor, we saw the world’s largest blue diamond💎, the Hope Diamond, given by Louis XVI to Marie Antoinette. It’s said to be cursed, but I must admit, it’s incredibly dazzling and desirable, haha😂 The National Museum of Natural History in Washington is indeed worthy of being a filming location for “Night at the Museum 2.” The exhibits are vast and varied; highly recommend a visit👍👍👍 #WashingtonTravel #DC #MustVisitMuseums #Museum #Washington #Museum
