DC Presidential Favorite: Old Ebbitt Grill 🏛️
A highly-rated restaurant on Google Maps! Just one block from the White House – rumored to have been visited by several presidents! Even on a Tuesday night, it was packed ~ Highly recommend making a reservation in advance! Walk-ins are quite challenging. Appetizers 🦀 Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Their signature crab cake, served with coleslaw and fries 🍟 Super delicious! Very substantial, with a slightly grilled exterior. Personally loved the coleslaw – not overly wet or heavily dressed. 🦪🦐 The Walrus A seafood platter with 12 oysters / 6 clams / 6 shrimp The oysters were fresh and sweet! So good. The clams were a bit sandy, and the shrimp, though large, were just okay. Would recommend just ordering the oysters next time ~ 🥬 Caesar Salad A standard Caesar salad – a bit too much dressing, which made it slightly heavy. Main Courses 🥩🍟 Steak Frites The steak portion wasn’t huge, but the sauce was juicy and flavorful. 🦐🍝 Shrimp Spaghetti Felt like a garlicky Italian pasta with a tomato-cream base. The homemade pasta had a great chew, and the shrimp were sweet and delicious! Even with the cream base, it wasn’t overly rich – highly recommended! 🦞🍝 Lobster Fra Diavolo Bucatini Lobster pasta with a red sauce base, but it was super spicy 😆😆 The noodles were slightly thicker and still very tasty ~ Desserts We went all out and ordered three desserts 😆 Bourbon-Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding The most recommended dessert ~ Ice cream paired with bread pudding and salted caramel sauce – a perfect sweet and salty combo! Flourless Chocolate Cake 🍰🍫 Rich and intense chocolate flavor – chocolate lovers will adore this. Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae Brownie + ice cream – a fail-proof combination 🥹 Overall The food was delicious ~ However, the service wasn’t great. We had a 7:30 reservation but weren’t seated until almost 8:00. Throughout the dinner, we had to repeatedly ask for water and menus 😅😅 With three glasses of wine 🍷, the total came to ~$90 per person. Still, it’s a restaurant worth revisiting! #DCFood #DCExploration #DCFoodRecommendations #OldEbbittGrill #Foodie #FoodieGram
