DC Presidential Favorite: Old Ebbitt Grill ๐๏ธ
A highly-rated restaurant on Google Maps! Just one block from the White House โ rumored to have been visited by several presidents! Even on a Tuesday night, it was packed ~ Highly recommend making a reservation in advance! Walk-ins are quite challenging. Appetizers ๐ฆ Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Their signature crab cake, served with coleslaw and fries ๐ Super delicious! Very substantial, with a slightly grilled exterior. Personally loved the coleslaw โ not overly wet or heavily dressed. ๐ฆช๐ฆ The Walrus A seafood platter with 12 oysters / 6 clams / 6 shrimp The oysters were fresh and sweet! So good. The clams were a bit sandy, and the shrimp, though large, were just okay. Would recommend just ordering the oysters next time ~ ๐ฅฌ Caesar Salad A standard Caesar salad โ a bit too much dressing, which made it slightly heavy. Main Courses ๐ฅฉ๐ Steak Frites The steak portion wasnโt huge, but the sauce was juicy and flavorful. ๐ฆ๐ Shrimp Spaghetti Felt like a garlicky Italian pasta with a tomato-cream base. The homemade pasta had a great chew, and the shrimp were sweet and delicious! Even with the cream base, it wasnโt overly rich โ highly recommended! ๐ฆ๐ Lobster Fra Diavolo Bucatini Lobster pasta with a red sauce base, but it was super spicy ๐๐ The noodles were slightly thicker and still very tasty ~ Desserts We went all out and ordered three desserts ๐ Bourbon-Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding The most recommended dessert ~ Ice cream paired with bread pudding and salted caramel sauce โ a perfect sweet and salty combo! Flourless Chocolate Cake ๐ฐ๐ซ Rich and intense chocolate flavor โ chocolate lovers will adore this. Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae Brownie + ice cream โ a fail-proof combination ๐ฅน Overall The food was delicious ~ However, the service wasnโt great. We had a 7:30 reservation but werenโt seated until almost 8:00. Throughout the dinner, we had to repeatedly ask for water and menus ๐ ๐ With three glasses of wine ๐ท, the total came to ~$90 per person. Still, itโs a restaurant worth revisiting! #DCFood #DCExploration #DCFoodRecommendations #OldEbbittGrill #Foodie #FoodieGram
