DC Washington Food Exploration - Lapis
An Afghan restaurant. If I remember correctly, there's a sign at the entrance indicating it was recognized by Michelin in 2018 and 2021. Some friends who had been there said it was good, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown!!! ๐ Lamb Hand-Pulled Rice (Picture 1) Just an ordinary rice dish, nothing special. ๐ Lamb Chops (Picture 1) โญ๏ธ The only dish I found somewhat acceptable in this meal. The meat was tender but not mushy, paired with a fresh tomato sauce that cut through the richness. There was a slight lamb flavor, but it wasn't overpowering. ๐ Beef-Stuffed Flatbread (Picture 2) Dry and hard. The sauce was quite spicy, but the meat filling lacked the aromatic "wok hei" flavor it should have had. ๐ซ Shrimp Dumplings ๐ (Picture 3) The wrapper was dry and toughโalmost hard to chew. The filling was a mix of shrimp and rice with sauce, and the flavor was okay, but the texture was truly disappointing. ๐ฅ Just wanted to help everyone avoid a disappointing experience! ๐ฅ Have you ever tried Afghan cuisine?
