DC Wharf’s Super Popular Spanish Seafood Paella Date Restaurant
🥔 Del Mar is a restaurant that I’ve been meaning to try for years, ever since I lived in DC. I’ve kept it on my list because I often get the craving for Spanish seafood paella. 🥔 The seafood paella really hits the spot. We ordered the small portion (I think the salad dressing on the side was even better than the paella itself, haha). The second most impressive dish was the roasted potato with huge squid tentacles in the second picture. I even think it was tastier than the main course of seafood paella! The other dishes were more of a novelty for me, like the cute cherry blossom soup that had a bit of a sour taste. I kept discussing with the little fatty what exactly that flavor was – it was sour but familiar 🤔 The dual-flavor ice cream was also quite peculiar, tasting like a mix of cinnamon and mint. I’m someone who usually avoids cinnamon, but this cinnamon flavor was actually okay. It was completely different from regular sweet ice cream, haha. We were prepared for vanilla and strawberry ice cream because of its white and pink color, but our expressions changed dramatically after the first bite, haha! The total bill came to $300 plus the standard tip, which I think is a bit expensive. (Suddenly, I miss the times when my sister and I went to a random, crowded restaurant in downtown Miami and ordered a huge portion of seafood paella for just a few dozen dollars.) 🥔 Anyway, the restaurant has a great environment, the food is exquisite, and the servers are very nice. It’s still very suitable for a date, with the only downside being that it’s a bit pricey, hehe. But the Wharf area is beautiful, and it’s nice to walk around after eating. Buying some seafood from the market to take home for the next day’s meal is still very enjoyable. (By the way, I suggest buying oysters 🦪 directly from the seafood market instead of at the restaurant.) #DMVFoodAndFun #DMVArea #WhatToDoInDMV #DateRestaurant #DMVRestaurantHunt #DMVFood #WhatToEatInDMV
