Discovering Fresh Live Octopus from Korea in Irvine, LA Area! 🐙✨

I’ve always heard that “you can’t say you’ve tried Irvine’s best Korean food without visiting this place!” 😄 The other day, while chatting with my kids about my college days when friends and I would go to Ktown for live octopus late at night, I searched on Xiaohongshu and found that this restaurant serves it too! Made a reservation right away! 【Live Octopus】 The star of the show! 👏 Saw their aquarium at the front—fresh live octopus caught right before serving. The staff mentioned the octopus comes directly from Korean waters 🌊. I heard it’s not available every day, so I called ahead to make sure—didn’t want to miss out! The octopus is cut into small pieces, drizzled with sesame oil, and served still moving 🐙💫. It’s incredibly fresh and bouncy, even sticking to the plate! So tender and chewy. They serve it with a special sauce, but I enjoyed it plain to savor the original flavor. Absolutely delicious! 😋 【Cold Buckwheat Noodles】 The perfect summer refresher! 🍜❄️ We also ordered the tripe trio, so this icy noodle dish with radish paste, mustard, and green onions was incredibly refreshing—perfect for cutting through the richness. 【Tripe Trio (Beef Intestine Platter)】 A signature dish here! 🐮🔥 I’ve always loved beef intestine combos, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it in Irvine—usually only authentic Korean places serve it. The small intestines are rich and fatty, the large intestines are chewy, and the tripe is crispy and bouncy. Stir-fried on an iron plate with chili powder and onions, it’s incredibly fragrant. Pair it with rice balls to soak up all the delicious sauce from the bottom of the pan—so satisfying! 🍙 The rice balls were a fun surprise; they even tasted amazing dipped in the sweet-and-sour soy sauce from the octopus. Would love to recreate this at home! During dinner, I noticed mostly Korean customers—always a good sign! 👍 This place is also famous for its sundae (blood sausage) and sundae soup, along with various seafood dishes. Can’t wait to come back and try more! Menu attached at the end. 📋 Moobongri Soondae Irvine Barranca 4250 Barranca Pkwy Ste G, Irvine, CA 92604 #Foodie #KoreanFood #LiveOctopus #IrvineEats #LAFood #MustTry #AuthenticKorean
