Discovering Ohio Theatre: An Artistic Echo Through a Century
🌵At the Ohio Theatre in downtown Columbus, I joined a one-hour free guided tour—an absolutely invaluable cultural experience. 🌸 Six enthusiastic volunteers divided us into small groups and led us through this historic building, which dates back to 1928, offering detailed insights into its rich history, versatile functions, and unique architectural style. 🌹The theater’s interior is extravagantly decorated, with its Spanish Baroque-style hall, intricate gilded reliefs, and velvet curtains evoking the golden age of Hollywood. 🍃The volunteers not only shared how the venue transitioned from a silent movie hall to today’s multidisciplinary performing arts center but also revealed stories behind architectural details—such as the starry sky ceiling dome and vintage lighting hidden in corners. ☀️The most breathtaking part was the final 15-minute organ performance and light show. Installed in 1928, this theater organ is a true “beast of sound,” originally used to accompany silent films. #LifeInTheUS #ColumbusOhio #HistoricTheater
