DMV 🦐 Mediterranean Flavored Restaurant šŸ½ļø Zaytinya

šŸ“ For the third course, we had lemon shrimp, sea bass, and smoked lamb shoulder. The shrimp was quite a letdown; it was only sour without any other flavors, and I couldn’t taste the freshness of the shrimp at all. The sea bass was also disappointing. Maybe it’s because I have such a deep impression of Chinese-style sea bass, which led to a fixed idea of what sea bass should taste like. This one was just slightly seared; perhaps that’s their style. šŸ’•The accompanying sauce looked nice and tasted good too. But I didn’t quite get how it was supposed to complement the dish. I thought the sauce itself was delicious, with anise, almond, and caper foam. I tried dipping the fish in it, but it didn’t enhance the flavor. šŸ’•I ended up dipping the sea bass in the lemon shrimp sauce, and it was actually quite tasty. I hope I didn’t offend anyone by doing that. The smoked lamb shoulder was the second-to-last meat dish on the menu. It mainly consisted of smoked lamb shoulder meat, which I didn’t like either – it was just a small meat patty cut in half. šŸ’•The flavors were quite perplexing. It’s not that I dislike the taste of lamb, but this was very coarse. Maybe I was just getting full at this point. 🤣🤣 We ordered a lot because we heard that the portions were small. šŸ“ Yes, and then there was one more round. We ordered two desserts: a bone marrow cake which wasn’t good, and I didn’t like it for the same reasons as the lamb patty. For dessert, we had Greek yogurt and apricot 🤣🤣, and the Turkish coffee chocolate cake. The yogurt was nice with a rich texture, and the crushed pistachios were the perfect touch. The coffee chocolate cake was okay, but I couldn’t taste the coffee flavor. We also had three glasses of wine, and with the tip, the total came to a little over $293. Wow, that’s more expensive than our chef’s special meal. The experience was alright; next time, I might try the salmon, and I’ll have to think carefully about the meats. 🤣🤣 #USA #FoodExploration #Food #MediterraneanDiet #WeightLoss #DMV #Washington
