DMV Food Recommendation: Kura ๐Ÿฃโœจ

I absolutely love their wasabi! Out of all the Japanese restaurants I've tried, Kura's wasabi is my favorite โ€“ it's pungent but not overwhelming, with a real fragrance! ๐ŸŒฑ I've been here a few times, and the blind box gachapon is always fun. Recently, they switched to a One Piece theme! Spend $85 (on food only, not including tip) and you get a canvas tote bag. Today, I opened two blind boxes: one was a badge holder/lanyard in black or blue (I got black! ๐Ÿ–ค), and the other was a standee. I preferred the keychains from the previous theme, though. Back to the food โ€“ I only took a few photos. My favorites are the two types of beef sushi and the squid one in the middle โ€“ I could eat their beef sushi forever! ๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿ”ฅ The taco โ€“ I tried to scrape off most of the sauce, but it was still pretty salty. The flavor was okay, though. There's a special sushi themed after a One Piece character who holds three swords โ€“ one in his mouth and two in his hands โ€“ so this special has a shrimp crossing the sushi with two shrimp on top. Haha, it's fun! ๐Ÿคโš”๏ธ The other items I tried didn't leave a strong "ding!" impression, lol. The tonkotsu ramen was very, very unremarkable โ€“ better to go to a dedicated ramen shop for that! I'll recommend DMV ramen spots separately later. I've had their udon before, and it wasn't great eitherโ€ฆ Miso soup โ€“ avoid it if you can! Extremely salty โ€“ barely drinkable! ๐Ÿซ  Overall, I think it's worth a visit. My rating: 3.5/5, mainly for the wasabi and the two beef sushi options! (P.S. I think it's better than Uzu revolving sushi. If choosing between the two, go with Kura! ๐Ÿ˜‰) ๐Ÿ“ Address: 614 H St NW Suite #100, Washington, DC 20001 ๐Ÿ’ฐ Average spending: around $70 per person Have you been to Kura?
