Does Taiwanese Three Cup Chicken Not Come with Skin? 😲
Just visited Yen’s Cafe in Ashburn, VA for the second time—this place is seriously tasty! 🍛 Though it’s a bit far from downtown Washington DC, it’s totally worth the trip. The restaurant is pretty small and cozy, and according to their info, they’ve been serving authentic Taiwanese dishes since 2008! I tried their Three Cup Chicken, and it was delicious… but it got me thinking—back when I had this dish in mainland China, it always came with chicken skin. Is that not a thing in authentic Taiwanese versions? 🤔 Would love to hear your thoughts if you’ve tried both styles! Besides the chicken, their spring rolls were super tasty too (though the menu called them “Shanghai spring rolls” 📝). The owner, a super friendly Taiwanese lady, even treated us to the crispy custard buns you see in the 4th photo—so fragrant and perfectly crunchy! 🥟🔥 Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try more meat dishes this time, but I’ll definitely be back for more. What meat dish would you recommend I order next?
