Durmitor National Park ๐ฒ๐ช | World Natural Heritage
Durmitor National Park is really not suitable for self-driving! The scenery is absolutely top-notch!๐ As a World Natural Heritage site, it's totally worth a visit. I got a preview of autumn there ๐. 1.ย There's a long stretch of mountain road with many hairpin bends. I really admire our bus driver ๐. The weather wasn't good that dayโit was raining ๐ง๏ธ and foggy ๐ซ๏ธ, making it almost impossible to see. It felt like he was driving by instinct. ๐๏ธSince he's been running this route all year round, he must have memorized it by heart, but it was still quite dangerous. 2.ย Durmitor National Park is huge, with mountains including Mount Durmitor โฐ๏ธ, rivers like the Tara River, and lakes such as the Black Lake.๐ง Lush and green, it's also a large-scale wildlife reserve with a rich variety of thriving flora and fauna. It's also a great hiking ๐๐ป destination. 3.ย The black pine forests ๐ฒ in the Tara River Canyon (Europe's deepest canyon and the world's second-deepest) are among the last remaining primeval black pine forests in Europe. ๐ Walking through the forest by the Black Lake, the air is fresh, and the fragrance of pine trees is refreshing.๐ 4.ย After entering the park, we took a small train to the Black Lake. It was really cold that day with strong winds! But the Europeans were still wearing shorts ๐ฉณ. The Black Lake is known as "Europe's Tear". Surrounded by dense primeval forests and mountains, it's a natural oxygen bar.๐๏ธ๐๏ธ 5.ย The "Tara River Gorge Bridge"โa famous filming location for a former Yugoslavian movie. Spanning the Tara River, it's still in use today. Standing on the bridge, you can see the river gorge below surrounded by mist ๐, looming like a fairyland. ๐ต Farewell, my friend, farewell...๐ฃ I think when visiting Montenegro ๐ฒ๐ช, seeing Kotor's Adriatic Sea and Durmitor National Park ๐๏ธ is absolutely enough. It's a bit of a pity that we encountered rainy weather โ๏ธ, but fortunately, it didn't disrupt the main itinerary. On the way to Durmitor, we saw large amounts of rainwater rushing onto the road๐ฃ. It seemed that if we had set off a bit later, we would have encountered traffic jams and road washouts. It's said that those two days saw once-in-a-century heavy rains in Bosnia and Herzegovina, causing severe floods and landslides.๐๏ธ The main road from Sarajevo to Mostar was closed due to collapses, road damage, and flooding. ๐ If our route had been reversed (Durmitor - Mostar - Sarajevo), we would definitely have had to take detours, which would have been tough. We didn't take the same route back; from Durmitor, we went directly to Serbia ๐ท๐ธ. #OffthebeatenpathTravelDestination#Montenegro#MovieFilmingLocation#DurmitorNationaPark
