The story is about an unplanned visit to the capital of Serbia.
We had to fly from Corfu to Tivat, and since there are no direct flights, we flew on one airline, namely AirSerbia, with a connection in Belgrade. To begin with, there was no online check-in for the flight, which already seemed suspicious. But come on, Corfu airport is small and check-in should be quick. Not so. Check-in started 50 minutes before the end of check-in and only one counter. After about 30 minutes they increased the number of counters to two, but the luggage was also taken there, so everything took quite a long time. That was the first alarm bell. When we went through passport and customs control and got to the gate - it became clear that the flight would not leave on time, but the staff continued to remain silent. As a result, we left with a 1.5 hour delay, instead of 16:00 - at 17:30, which did not allow us to make our connection in Belgrade. Ok. It happens. When we landed in Belgrade at 18:18 local time and went to the transfer gate - there was already a huge queue from other flights of this glorious airline. We spent another hour (19:20) until our turn came. There we were given a flight for the next day at 13:40, even though they had two other earlier departures. Oh well - maybe there were no seats. We were told to wait for someone (never got that mythical someone) to come through and pick us up for a transfer bus to the hotel. Then came another 1.5 hours waiting for this "someone". Mind you, the time was already 20:45. The mythical someone turned out to be the same employee of the great company AirSerbia, who simply stood up from behind her desk and said: "All those on the transfer, follow me." Yay! Well, that would seem to be it. But no. She just walked us to the exit of the airport, and told us to wait for the bus. When everyone who was waiting for the transfer crowded outside, it became obvious that no bus could hold that many passengers and luggage. For this reason, people with children and a lot of luggage became anxious and were given a hotel voucher and offered to get to the hotel at their own expense. Can you do that? Immediately there were queues for the voucher, the issuing of which was not fast. Meanwhile it was already 21:50 on the clock. The transfer bus was still missing. The queue for the voucher was not shrinking. The excitement was building. One emotional woman could not stand it and raised a ruckus, the reaction to which was the announcement that the bus would arrive at 22:10. It should be noted that the bus arrived exactly at 22:10. The remnants of those who did not have time to get a voucher and did not leave on their own loaded into the bus and went to the hotel. And here it is - the pearl of the capital - Hotel Serbia! It's 23:00 on the clock. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Lpix4HNYFtJjMxtj9 From the reviews it is clear that this is a duty hotel for AirSerbia, where they put all those who did not get on their connecting flights. And this happens on a daily basis!!! As you realise, there is then a general check-in, which takes us another 20 minutes. At check-in they take away our passports for some unknown reason! Further we were fed, it should be noted that it was quite tasty, and at 00:00 closed the restaurant in the hotel. Time for bed. We went up to the 6th floor, opened the door and got into the era of the 90s after the collapse of the USSR. It was a teleporter to the past: boarded up windows, air conditioner of 1998 year of manufacture, ruined flooring, tiles from the same 90s and other attributes of former glory. What can you do - it's only one night. It should be noted that the beds were quite comfortable, the linen was clean, and the air conditioner, despite the fact that it is a contemporary of Aztecs and Maya civilisation, worked - so we managed to sleep. The next day there were also inconsistencies (transfer bus for us was not provided, so we went the nearest possible; the flight was delayed, hand luggage was forced to be sent to the luggage), but these were all...
Read moreHotel lobby gives good impression, but when you come to the room corridor you first see that it is a very old hotel that should be renovated years ago. In the rooms it's even worse, there is about 1cm crack between room door and jamb (no sound insulation). Everything in the room is old and beaten up, carpets are old and very dirty, so are the decorative blankets on the bed. There is AC unit in room (we haven't tried it though) Bathroom was not properly cleaned, shelf above sink was full of dust. Floor wasn't vacuumed. Room service doesn't make the beds. Blankets are not in bedding sets, only covered with sheets. ||Breakfast buffet was from 31th december to 2nd January exceptionally served between 8 and 11am (don't know the usual hours), which means that at 8am there was a huge line for breakfast. One day they opened up another room because there were no tables left in the first, the other day they did not. On top of that there is only one coffe making machine which works very slow and needs to be refilled very often. Only first time they set the table with placemat, after that they only superficially wipe the table. They do however try very hard, I think they were a bit understaffed because of holidays. Otherwise food selection was very good and always stocked.||The staff at the reception was very kind...
