Eating and Drinking in Houston
Eating & Drinking in Houston 1. Lao Gao Barbecue - Late-Night Barbecue 🌟🌟🌟 They’ve got some "creative" (read: bold) flavors. Even at midnight, it’s packed—great vibe, but way too salty. Never had grilled chives this salty before! Their lamb skewers are solid, though the grilled steamed buns are way too oily and sweet. For late-night BBQ, it’s decent, but lacks unique skewer options. 2. Ming Kee 🌟🌟🌟 Love their seafood congee, pork belly chicken, and spiced meat platter 🤤! The congee is light and savory—perfect for my Southern Chinese palate. 3. Sukiyaki - Mikiya Didn’t get a chance to try it 🥲. 4. Ramen - Mensho 🌟🌟 Went on a Saturday noon—no line, lucky us! Dad got the "5 Garlic" ramen 🧄, I got the Classic. The broth is super rich, not overly salty, and the roasted duck meat is a fun touch. It’s around $29 a bowl, same price as other ramen spots but way better.✨✨ 🎄No wonder it’s held a Michelin Star for 8 years straight—it lives up to the hype! 5. Hot Pot - Liu Yishou / Hai Di Lao 🌟🌟 Surprised Liu Yishou in Texas is buffet-style! They also offer a la carte, though—no wait, and it’s tasty. That said, all non-spicy broths (except avocado) are just okay, and the pork belly chicken broth is a letdown.🎃 6. Spicy Oil Noodles - Uncle Li 🌟🌟 Once Dad’s favorite, but the portions are huge—way too filling. Plus, it’s pretty far, so not worth the trip. 7. Hot Dry Noodles 🌟 Decent, but the braised side dishes are overpriced.💞💞 8. Fish Maw Chicken Soup - Ji Bei Chuan 🌟 Pretty good! 9. Lamb House 🌟🌟 Their sesame sauce-marinated shredded tripe and lamb dishes are top-notch.💖 10. Japanese Yakitori - Yokushi Robata 🌟🌟 The curry rice 🍛 is delicious! The other yakitori items are just alright. 11. Tofu Pudding & Fried Dough Sticks - Northern Plaza 🌟 The fried dough sticks (youtiao) are good, but the soy milk is a miss. 12. Home-Style Chinese - Cooking Girl 🌟 Dad loves their Yu Xiang Shredded Pork and Mapo Tofu. It’s super close to the hospital, which is convenient—but I found it way too spicy. Ended up only eating the chicken soup! 13. BBQ - Truth BBQ 🌟🌟 Ranked the 3rd best BBQ in Texas—waited 30 minutes. It’s good, though, and not too salty. 14. Korean BBQ - Bori 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The only reason I wrote this list—this place deserves all the hype! 🍀 Vibe: Amazing. It’s a standalone building with a small courtyard and flower-lined corridor—super cozy. 🤗 Service: They grill for you! Total game-changer for anyone who always burns their BBQ (guilty). No complaints here.💚 🥩 Food: Phenomenal. Marinated raw crab, seafood pancake, and the BBQ platter—all incredible. #Houston #HoustonFood
