Eating in Marseille? | Marseille Food Exploration
If you're in Marseille, tired of high-oil, high-calorie Western food, but don't know your way around, and only know Ramen Go and Hai , this post is for you. It aims to introduce Asian restaurants that former international students in Marseille often visited, which are both tasty and cost-effective, hoping to help readers: 1️⃣ Okassan Address: 9 Rue des Trois Rois (near Metro M2) Average per person: 15–25💶 Specialties: Takoyaki (octopus balls), karaage chicken, beef rice that's better than Yoshinoya and Sukiya, salmon bento with rich side dishes, etc. Service: The waiters will take a blackboard with the menu to take orders and quickly announce the daily specials in French. It may not be friendly for those who are not good at French, but it's worth a try. 2️⃣ Ken bubble Address: 25 Grand Rue (north of Vieux-Port) Average per person: 10–20💶 Specialties: A casual dining spot that looks like a drink shop, selling gimbap, bibimbap, etc. The Korean bibimbap here is full of ingredients but is a cold dish! Service: The shop assistant sister is from Southeast Asia and is very enthusiastic. Even if you speak your needs slowly (stumblingly), she will respond actively. The shop mainly operates in the morning, noon and afternoon, and closes early, so be careful not to make a wasted trip. 3️⃣ Chez Panda Address: 13 Rue de la République (near Tram T3) Average per person: 10–20💶 Specialties: A wide range of dishes, with the menu changing daily. There are updated plat du jour every day. I remember having beef rice noodles, spicy chicken with noodles, cold noodles, ice jelly, etc. Service: Communication is convenient. The owner (also the chef) sister has set up a WeChat group to notify the new dishes of the day, and you can make a reservation in advance to eat directly when you arrive at the store. 4️⃣ Nihao Address: 16 Rue de la Grande Armée (north of Marseille, near the train station) Average per person: 10–15💶 Specialties: Sweet and sour chicken with rice, spicy chicken with rice squid with rice... (-style casual dishes) Service: The landlady is from northern China and is very kind (she said I wore too little in winter). The dishes are generally cheap (maybe because the rent is relatively low?). 5️⃣ Saveur de Dong Address: 12 Bd d'Athènes (north of Marseille, near the train station) Average per person: 15–25💶 Specialties: Dumplings with various fillings 🥟, with thin skins and large fillings. Personally, I think they are the best among restaurants in Marseille, as well as some classic Korean dishes: tteokbokki, bibimbap, cold noodles, etc. Service: There is a Chinese menu with pictures, and the layout is pleasing to the eye. The food is served relatively quickly (among French restaurants). Generally, our way of ordering for two people is dumplings plus Korean bibimbap. #RestaurantRecommendation #HiddenGemRestaurantShare #Marseille #FrenchLife #StudyAbroad #GlobalFoodieSquad
