Edmonton Day Trips
Food, Fun & Cuteness Overload šØš¦ | Alpaca joy for just a little over $2! š« With the long weekend rolling around, we decided to take a drive to Calgaryāand of course, we couldnāt pass up the chance to stop by that alpaca farm Iād been drooling over on social media for months š¦. Let me tell you, it was 100% worth the detour! The farm owners, a warm and lively couple, made the visit feel like dropping by a friendās place. The husband walked us through the layout with so much passionāexplaining which alpacas were the shy ones, which were total drama queens, and even sharing funny stories about their ādivaā tendencies š. His wife, meanwhile, kept everything running like a well-oiled machine (seriously, how does she handle six kids and a farm full of alpacas? Total superhero š»). Their little boy even tagged along to help carry the feed buckets, grinning like he had the best job in the world. Pro tip: The alpacas are grouped by gender and age, so start with the mamas and babies first! The little ones are fluffy balls of energy, nuzzling your hands for snacks and tripping over their own legsāpure chaos in the cutest way š„¹. The male alpacas, though? Theyāre very enthusiastic. Think: following you around like overexcited puppies, sticking their heads into your bag, and giving you these āfeed me nowā stares that are equal parts intimidating and hilarious š¤ (we learned to keep a safe distance⦠but still loved them). Feeding time is where the magic happens! You can grab feed at the entranceā$1 for a small bag of veggie treats, $3 for a āpremium mixā that the alpacas go crazy for. Rule number one: Donāt bring your own snacks. The farmers know exactly whatās safe for their fluffy friends, and respecting that goes a long way! Oh, and hide your feed bag when youāre doneāthose little foodies have a sixth sense for snacks, and theyāll follow you around like tiny, woolly detectives until you share šµļøāļø. What surprised us most? How clean the farm was! No stinky barn smells, no messy enclosuresājust fresh air, green pastures, and alpacas rolling around in the grass like they own the place š±. Thereās also a tiny chicken coop off to the side, where the hens strut around like theyāre in charge, laying eggs so big they look like theyāre from a fairy tale š„. We grabbed a dozen before leaving, and let me tell youāthose golden yolks made our breakfast the next morning taste like pure happiness. Donāt skip the gift shop! Itās packed with the cutest alpaca-themed goodies: fuzzy socks, hand-knit scarves, and little felted alpaca figurines that are impossible to resist šļø. We left with a bag of souvenirs and full hearts (and maybe a few alpaca kisses on our jackets). š Kirkās Alpaca Farm š Heads up! You must book tickets in advance on Google Mapsāthey fill up fast, especially on weekends! š š Pro photo hack: Wear bright colors (think: pink, yellow, or blue)āyouāll pop against the green fields and the alpacasā soft wool, and your pics will look like theyāre straight out of a storybook šø. Also, the hillside gets windy, so toss a light jacket in your bagāthose alpacas might not care about the breeze, but you will! šØ š° Around $18 per person, which includes entry and a couple of feed bagsātotal steal for hours of cuteness! If youāre ever near Edmonton or Calgary, do yourself a favor and add this to your list. Itās the perfect pick-me-up for animal lovers, families, or anyone who needs a break from city chaos. Trust me, once you lock eyes with a baby alpaca nuzzling its mom? Youāll forget all your worries. š„° #Edmonton #CalgaryLife #EdmontonDayTrips #WeekendVibes #UniversityOfAlberta #EdmontonFarms #AlpacaLove #LongWeekendFun #EdmontonAdventures
