Enjoying Flaky Pastries at 7 AM in Budapest’s Croissant Paradise
🍽️ VAJ Because the hotel we stayed at was just across the street, it took only 3 minutes to walk there, so we went to solve our breakfast needs as soon as it opened at 7 AM.🍞 There were quite a few people in the store, but there were many staff behind the bread counter who cleared tables quickly. The tableware for dining in was self-service, so the wait wasn’t too long. During the summer, Budapest’s temperature ranges between 36℃-40℃ , and the smell of freshly baked buttery pastries permeated both the inside and outside of the store. It was a bit windy in the early morning, so sitting outside was more comfortable, especially since we were still a bit groggy from just waking up. Taking a bite of the pistachio croissant, the carbs mixed with caffeine woke us right up. 🥐 Pistachio Cream Croissant The bread was very large, with a crispy outer layer and a soft, plump interior with some pineapple particles. The pistachio cream was generous, and you could taste flowing pistachio cream from the first bite to the last. Surprisingly, the sweetness was just right. As is well known, European desserts are often overly sweet, but these two croissants were sweet enough to suit most Asians’ taste buds. 🧀 Cheese Croissant This croissant had a classic croissant body, also extra-large in size, with a caramelized outer layer that provided a different texture from the crispy layers. Inside was a huge piece of cheese and banana, making it both fragrant and very filling. 🍰 Basque Cheesecake The Basque cake had a delicate texture, and it was overall decent. Next time, I’ll focus on trying other types of croissants. We also saw savory sandwiches🥪, puff pastries, and cinnamon rolls, among many other varieties.☕️ However, the coffee was average. We just ordered a latte with some milk foam for the morning. We also saw a pecan vanilla custard croissant, but we were too full to try it. 💶 Price The specialty croissants here were not cheap, about 2490 HUF each. The coffee and juice prices were relatively normal. #DocumentingFoodOnTheGo #Budapest #BudapestFood #Croissant #HiddenGemDessertShop #Hungary #CroissantBread #PistachioCroissant #CheeseCroissant #Coffee #Brunch
