Exploring & Eating at the University of Michigan ππ¦
Spent the weekend in Detroit and dropped by Ann Arbor to visit a friend at U-M! The weather was absolutely perfect β clear blue skies and just the right temperature βοΈπβ¦ though my friend kept emphasizing how rare that is in Michigan. Apparently, most of the year itβs either scorching heat + thunderstorms, or hail, tornadoes, and brutally long winters π₯ΆπͺοΈβ¦ Sounds intense! Stay strong, Michigan folks! πͺ π½οΈ Maize & Blue Deli π 1329 S University Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 First stop: the famous smoked meat sandwich! This deli is super popular among students and locals. Heads up β no online orders, but you can scan a QR code to order ahead. We ordered in person and ended up waiting over an hour π β¦ so we wandered over to the farmers market nearby. The classic smoked meat sandwich was HUGE β piled high with pastrami, pickles, and melted cheese π₯ͺπ§. So satisfying! I could only finish half. π¨ Kilwinβs Chocolates π 107 East Liberty Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 Next, my friend insisted we try the gelato β and it did not disappoint! I sampled a few flavors and went with the peach π, which was loaded with real fruit pieces. So refreshing! They mainly sell chocolates (very American-style π«), so chocolate lovers would enjoy this spot. ποΈ Campus Tour After eating, we explored the campus β wandered through different buildings (the business school is definitely the shiniest π°), admired displays of alumni achievements, and stopped by the bookstore for some merch. The school spirit is real β almost everyone was wearing Michigan gear! ππ π£ Miki Japanese Restaurant π 106 S 1st St, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 We ended the day with dinner at a (Korean-owned) Japanese spot β supposedly one of the better options near campus. The portions were generous, but the flavors were just okay π. Unless youβre really craving Asian food, maybe skip this one. Overall, Ann Arbor is such a lovely college town β big thanks to my friend for showing me around! Definitely worth a visit if youβre in the area π³β€οΈ. #UniversityOfMichigan #CampusLife #FoodTour #AnnArborEats #GoBlue #MichiganAdventures
