Exploring the National Mall While Museums Are Closed 🍂🏛️
When the Smithsonian museums unexpectedly shut down, we thought our day was ruined... but the National Mall’s autumn beauty totally saved the trip! 😍✨ 🍂 Must-Capture Photo Spots ▫️ Washington Monument: The pure white obelisk stands tall against golden foliage—crouch down to frame the monument with colorful leaves 🍁, and try holding a crimson leaf in your shot for extra charm! ▫️ Lincoln Memorial: From the steps, you can gaze over the Reflecting Pool covered in fallen leaves. At sunset, the silhouette of the memorial is incredibly striking, and the crunch of leaves underfoot screams autumn 🍂🧡. ▫️ Distant View of the White House: Capture the full building complex from the National Park side—the white house set against fiery autumn trees makes for a classic shot without the crowds! 📸 👨👩👧👦 Kid-Friendly Fun & Lessons Learned Our two teens had endless energy—chasing squirrels 🐿️, then ducks 🦆... When they got tired, we rented Lime scooters 🛴. But beware: 93 minutes of fun cost us $50! 💸😅 My wallet cried a little, but seeing the kids glide happily along the tree-lined paths? Priceless 😂. ⚠️ Tip: Scooters are allowed in the park—just keep track of your time! Even with the museums closed, the National Mall in autumn is absolutely breathtaking! With colorful forests, historic monuments, and the White House as your backdrop, you can easily walk 20,000 steps without even noticing.
