Filipino Purple Yam Bread + Bone Broth Clay Pot Rice Noodles
Right here in Concord, I’ve unlocked two more affordable local spots—total wins for budget-friendly eats! 🚩 Valerio's Tropical Bakeshop 📍 Address: 2030 Diamond Blvd, Concord, CA 94520 This is a well-established Filipino bakery with multiple branches across the Bay Area (you can find them in Milpitas, Hayward, Union City too!). They specialize in Filipino desserts—prices are cheap, and the flavors are authentic! The purple yam bread and cheese bread rolls I tried this time were both delicious. That said, their Concord location only has a 3.9-star rating on Google. I’m not sure why—it might be because the service is a bit lacking. But for the food alone, it’s worth a visit! 🥐 🚩 Dumpling and Noodle House 📍 Address: 1768 Willow Pass Rd, Concord, CA 94520 This spot seems to have just opened recently—they focus on pure bone broth rice noodles and noodle snacks. I tried three items, and here’s the breakdown: Tomato Beef Rib Rice Noodles: Let’s start with the pros—huge portion, and the broth is amazing! You can tell it’s slow-simmered with meat bones—rich, flavorful, and doesn’t leave you thirsty after drinking. The noodles come in a clay pot (pre-cooked with all toppings, unlike some spots where you add raw veggies yourself), so it stays piping hot from start to finish. It’d be perfect in winter… though it does make you sweat a lot in summer! The only con: the beef slices are tough—fat isn’t the issue, but the meat has tendons that get stuck in your teeth. Xiaolongbao (Steamed Soup Dumplings): Tastes good—plenty of meat, but very little soup inside. Also, because the dumplings are big and the steamer basket is small, the wrappers stuck together. Half of them broke when I picked them up, so even the little soup that was there leaked out. Such a waste! 🥟 Dry-Fried Beef Ho Fun: Super average—this place is clearly better at bone broth clay pot dishes, so stick to those. Final Thought Concord’s food prices are such a pleasant surprise! You can eat well and fill up for just ~$20 per person—unbeatable value! #BayAreaFood #BayAreaEats #BayAreaFoodExploration #WhatToEatInTheBayArea #BayAreaFoodCheckIn #BayAreaFoodShare #WalnutCreek #BayAreaWalnutCreek
