First Impressions of Oklahoma City 🛬✨
After a thunderous flight (literally!), the first thing that caught my eye after landing was the strong Native American architectural style and materials used throughout the airport. 🏛️🌾 However, due to an unexpected diversion to Tulsa after departing from Houston, we ended up arriving extremely late—well into the next morning. When we finally got to the hotel, the staff almost gave our room away since they weren’t sure if we were still coming! 😅 🏨 Sheraton Oklahoma City Downtown Hotel (Apparently, Omni and Wyndham Grand are more famous among locals) 📍 Great location—not far from downtown attractions, and it was the most affordable option in the area when I booked. ⚠️ Pro tip: If you know you’ll be checking in very late, be sure to inform the hotel in advance to avoid any issues! ❕ Though we were lucky to get a room on the top floor, part of our view was unfortunately blocked by the elevator shaft—guess they really wanted to maximize room sales… 😑 After a much-needed nap (and adjusting to the 1-hour time difference), we didn’t start exploring until after 12:00 PM the next day. 😴⏰ — Convention Center: Super modern and impressive! There was even a comic convention going on, attracting cosplay fans from all over—mostly white attendees, fully dressed as their favorite characters. 🎭🦸 — Scissortail Park: A total paradise for kids! With slides, roller skating, bravery challenges, and even a climbing wall. But note: adults must be accompanied by a child to enter the play areas. Otherwise… you might need to “borrow” a kid if you want to join the fun! 🛝🧒👧 Fun fact: Oklahoma City, OK is one-of-a-kind—it’s a capital city that shares its name with its state! Not something you see everywhere in the U.S. 🇺🇸❓More OKC gems to come in future posts! #USA #OklahomaCity #TravelDiary #FirstImpressions
