Retro Spots on Route 66 🇺🇸 | Missouri Edition
Day 3 on Route 66 Springfield → Oklahoma City The road was packed with spots oozing retro vibes 🕰️—so many that I’ll start with the first three stops right after leaving Springfield! Stop 1: Ash Grove A tiny town near Springfield, and oh my gosh—it’s full of adorable little shops 🛍️! Even the cars parked around were super cute 🚗💨 (think classic rides that fit right into the Route 66 aesthetic). Every corner felt like a throwback, and I couldn’t help but snap tons of photos! Stop 2: Whitehall Mercantile Address: 100 N Park Dr, Halltown, MO 65664 This was another charming little shop we passed by… but sadly, it was closed due to the pandemic 😷. We still hung around to take photos outside, though—even peeking through the glass windows gave us a glimpse of the cute stuff inside (vintage trinkets? Retro decor? We could only guess!). I really hope to go in and explore properly someday when I get the chance! 🤞 Stop 3: Miller Just another small town along the way, but what stood out here were the abandoned gas stations ⛽️! They had so much character—peeling paint, old signage, that quiet "time-stood-still" feel. Honestly, Route 66 must have the most abandoned gas stations ever… each one feels like a little piece of the highway’s history, and they’re perfect for that nostalgic photo op 📸. #Route66 #RoadTrip #SelfDrivingTour #HighwayTrip #USA #TravelUSA #AmericanLife #NorthAmericanLife #Travel #Missouri #MO #OffTheBeatenPath #Retro #AmericanRetro #TravelPhotography
