I was craving sushi 🍣🍣, and since there are plenty of sushi spots in Gainesville, I just picked a highly-rated one nearby on Google. This place, Mahzu Sushi & Grill, has a 4.6🌟 rating on Google. They specialize in Japanese appetizers, sushi, sashimi, hand rolls, teppanyaki, udon, sushi bento boxes, and more. They also serve alcoholic drinks and beverages. You can dine in or order online for delivery. The restaurant isn’t very big but has plenty of seating. The decor is simple but clean and tidy. Their sushi rolls average between $10-$15, and they offer a wide variety of sashimi. A small blackboard on the wall displays the daily specials During lunch hours (11 AM - 3 PM), they offer discounted lunch sets with plenty of options, all under $15—seems like a great deal!😁 We went for the sushi and sashimi, so we ordered the Sushi & Sashimi For Two set. It included two small ginger salads, two miso soups, 16 pieces of sashimi, 10 nigiri, and one sushi roll. The types of sashimi and nigiri are chosen by the chef, so customers can’t pick them. The roll, however, is customizable. The set costs $50, and it’s more than enough for two people. I was a little worried that the chef might choose less popular or lower-quality fish, but it turned out I had nothing to worry about. The staff said the chef usually selects the most popular and well-loved fish. Our set included salmon, white tuna, red tuna, yellowtail, and several other types I couldn’t name.👌 Sashimi & Nigiri:😘 Each type of fish was very fresh, with no fishy or off-putting taste. The salmon and tuna were especially rich and flavorful. Even the unfamiliar varieties had distinct tastes and textures—all delicious. The sushi rice paired with them was also excellent.👍 Sushi Roll: We chose the USA Roll, which contains lobster tempura, tuna, salmon, and yellowtail mixed together, topped with avocado, eel sauce, and cilantro sauce. It had a complex and satisfying flavor. Despite its small appearance, it was very filling.🤣 Overall, I give this place a 4.5🌟🌟🌟🌟. It’s a restaurant with great quality and good value for money. You can enjoy a affordable quick meal 🍱 or indulge in all-you-can-eat sashimi 🍣.
