Flying to Calgary

Super-Speed Itinerary: 1 day in Calgary, 1 day in Banff, 1 day in Yoho, 1 day in Jasper, 1 day for Columbia Glacier on the return, then fly back from Calgary. 🔍 Important Notes: 1️⃣ No cell service on highways from Yoho to Jasper. Download Google Maps offline before departure. 2️⃣ No gas stations en route. Fill up before leaving attractions for Jasper—keep the tank full. 3️⃣ Calgary has many police and speed cameras. Avoid speeding. 4️⃣ Roads are winding. New drivers: drive slowly, avoid fatigue. 📝 Pre-Trip Preparations (NO procrastination!): Book everything 1+ month in advance during peak season—no skippable steps! 1️⃣ Moraine Lake shuttle ticket: Private cars banned. Buy tickets early; search for alternative entry methods if sold out. 2️⃣ National Park Pass: One pass for all attractions. Buy by days, print and place on rental car windshield. CAD$22/day/car; Hwy 94 to Jasper is free with the pass. 3️⃣ Sulphur Mountain Gondola ticket: Key Banff attraction. Hike or take the gondola (detailed in previous post). Pre-book to avoid lines: CAD$66 + tax. 4️⃣ Sulphur Mountain dining: Recommend Sky Bistro. Book via or OpenTable. 5️⃣ Icefield Adventure: Book on . Package (CAD$110 + tax) includes: Ice Explorer ride onto the glacier Glass Skywalk (not for acrophobes). 6️⃣ Lake canoe rentals: Many lakes offer rentals. Research ahead (lakes were frozen in May when we visited). ✈️ Transportation: Flights: Book early for deals. WestJet round-trip from Montreal to Calgary in May: CAD$400. For 5-day trips, take the earliest departure and latest return flights. 6-day itineraries are more flexible. Car rental: MUST rent a car (we used Enterprise: 5-day Jeep Wrangler with insurance: CAD$700, pick up/drop off at airport). No car = missed spots and wasted time. 🏨 Accommodation: Avoid Airbnb (limited options, often basements). Stay in hotels: 2 nights in Banff Town, 1 night at Lake Louise, 1 night in Jasper for a 5D4N trip. #BanffNationalPark #Montreal #Travel
